How the connection works

How does Codex connect to LinkedIn?

Codex can call tools through MCP, but it cannot use your LinkedIn account just because LinkedIn is open in your browser. It still needs a connection that can authenticate the account, expose LinkedIn capabilities as tools, and return structured results.

Copying profile URLs or conversation text into a chat works for isolated tasks, but it quickly breaks down when Codex needs live search, inbox context, or repeatable actions. Your LinkedIn password, cookies, and 2FA details should not be placed in a Codex task either.

Quick tip: Think of an MCP as a plugin or connector. It lets Codex use an external tool, in this case LinkedIn through SalesTouch.

Add the LinkedIn MCP in the Codex app

Use Codex Plugins to add the hosted MCP server. You only need its name, transport type, and URL. Authentication comes immediately after this step.

Open Plugins from the Codex sidebar. This is where Codex manages apps, skills, and custom MCP servers.

Connect your LinkedIn account

Click Authenticate in Codex. SalesTouch then opens in your browser so you can create or access your workspace and connect the LinkedIn account Codex will use.

Success: Codex is connected to LinkedIn through SalesTouch.
